DokuNights begins with a bang, boasting a stellar opening-night lineup of exhilarating, eclectic DJs vibing on the same liberating frequency, swerving from nostalgic grooves to rolling techno to unexpected left-field cuts all in the name of a good time. Starting things off at the Sonar stage inside Prizren Fortress is renowned Berlin-based DJ Byron Yeates, before we are rewarded with the exciting Melbourne duo IN2STELLAR, ending with the rebellious energy of Kosovo’s very own Rebiswan to carry us into the night.
Byron Yeates
Progressive in both style and ethos, Byron Yeates is a celebrated Berlin-based DJ whose sets are inflected with an attitude that can at once be incredibly playful and theatrically sincere—a duality that animates the queer lineage of electronic dance music in which Yeates places himself. As focused on sleek rhythms as he is on fostering community and inclusivity, his woozy mixes of dubby downtempo, throwback house and keen and delicate melodies create a world that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking, applying a forcefulness that never lets surprise step off the dancefloor. In the last few years, he’s served his signature sound at Panorama Bar, Tresor and Shelter Amsterdam—and now it’s Prizren’s turn to step into his universe.
IN2STELLAR
Mainstays of Melbourne’s underground scene owing to their iconic Neurotiq Erotiq parties, DJ duo Sarah Morgan and Georgia Bird, aka IN2STELLAR, are now proving a revelation on the international circuit. They’ve had mixes on international radio stations like Noods, Balaami and Rinse FM, and have showcased their sets at some of Australia’s biggest festivals, like Pitch Music and Arts, Strawberry Fields and Splendour in the Grass. Weaving an irresistible sense of fun into everything they create, their sets are an intoxicating concoction of propulsive grooves and sweaty euphoria crafted for late-night dancefloors—classic 90s beats and futuristic touches revved up with rolling techno that will leave you flying.
Rebiswan
Anyone familiar with Prishtine’s underground scene would have caught wind of Rebiswan, one of the brightest forces to emerge from Kosovo’s ever-evolving creative world. As a co-founder of Hyjneshat, a queer collective that toys with genres, boundaries and expectations, they are deeply rooted in community-building, care, and radical joy. Riding a political undercurrent while pushing you to move your body, their sets seamlessly segue from pulsating house and gritty techno to experimental cuts and flashes of pop nostalgia, bursting with a rebellious energy owing to their remarkable intuition. Rebiswan’s music is expressive, unpredictable, and transformative—in short, it’s an invitation to liberate yourself on the dancefloor.
The regular ticket price for this performance is €10; however, with a Procredit bank account/card, you can purchase the ticket for only €7.
